Would you drop $80 on a bottle of wine? Probably not, but would you spend $40 on a wine that was once $80 and also was rated 94 points by Wine Advocate?
You could if you shop the PLCB Sale That They Aren't Telling Anyone About. Go to www.finewineandgoodspirits.com and go to Promotions--Current Sale. There you will see 13 wines at significantly reduced prices, often from Chairman's Selection prices that are already lower than the rest of the country. Click on the links for the original prices and descriptions of the wines. There's some Puligny Montrachet, Ribero Del Duero, a Super Tuscan, a Nebbiolo, and a California Pinot Noir (sold out).
You have to order these through the web site, have them shipped to a PLCB store of your choosing for you to pick up, and....pay a fee for packing and handling. You may balk at this fee, but it's not as much as shipping would cost so it's not too bad, about $2.50 a bottle.
This is a good chance to pick up some otherwise expensive and highly rated wines at bargain prices. Thanks PAWineTalk for keeping us informed.
UPDATE 11/10: Some of the wines are selling out. We received the wine we ordered in 1 day and they called us to let us know the wine had arrived. Not bad service at all.
